Dragonwilds crossplay dedicated servers
Dragonwilds 1.0 shipped full crossplay across PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2 on September 15, 2026. Here's what that means for a dedicated server.
Updated 2026-09-20
Can console players join a dedicated server?
Yes. Any player on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S or Switch 2 can join the same dedicated world and play together — that's what crossplay means here. What's still true after 1.0: only 64-bit Windows or Linux can run the dedicated server itself. Consoles can join one, but they can't host one.
Joining, platform by platform
The join flow is identical everywhere: open Worlds → Public, search the exact, case-sensitive world name, and enter the world password if the host set one. Each console has one crossplay setting to check first, or the world just won't show up:
- PS5: Turn on online play and crossplay under Family Controls if they're off.
- Xbox Series X|S: Allow "play with people outside Xbox" in your Privacy & online safety settings.
- Nintendo Switch 2: Enable online communication in Parental Controls.
- PC: No platform-side toggle — just join like any other world.
Full steps, including where the Owner Id and world password come from, are in how to join a Dragonwilds dedicated server.
Server-side crossplay setting
On the server, crossplay is controlled by a platform policy setting rather than anything a joining player has to configure. Wyrm Host worlds run with crossplay on by default, so PC and console players in your group can always play together without anyone changing a setting on the server itself.
Before 1.0
Dedicated servers existed in early access, but only PC clients could join one — the console versions didn't exist yet. The 1.0 release on September 15, 2026 is what brought PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2 in, all joining the same dedicated worlds as PC players from day one.
Skip the setup — deploy a Dragonwilds world instead
